2. Information We Collect (Including from Children)

We collect personal information to provide and improve our educational services. This includes:

• Account Information: such as name or nickname, birthdate (to verify age), parent/guardian email (for children), and password.
• Usage Data: including lesson progress, quiz results, time spent on activities, IP address, device identifiers, and browser info.
• Optional Content: in some cases, children or parents may upload or create content like flashcards, quizzes, or chat messages. We collect and store this content to facilitate the educational experience.

Children Under 13: If your child is under 13, we obtain verifiable parental/guardian consent before collecting personal information. We do not collect more data than is reasonably necessary for the child to participate in our learning features.

3. How We Use Information

We use personal information to:

• Operate, maintain, and improve EliteElise’s learning features
• Provide personalized learning (AI): We use quiz/lesson performance to tailor lessons and suggest next steps for each user. You may opt out of personalization anytime (see section below).
• Send service-related updates (e.g. progress reports, new feature announcements)
• Analyze usage to enhance the app’s design, content, and performance
• Detect or prevent activities that may harm users or be illegal, and protect health and safety in emergencies

We do not sell or rent personal data to advertisers or other third parties.

4. Sharing of Information

• Service Providers: We may share information with trusted service providers who help us operate and support our app (e.g., cloud hosting). These providers are contractually bound to use data only for our authorized purposes and to protect it.
• Legal or Safety Requirements: We may disclose data if required by law, or if we believe it’s necessary to protect the rights, safety, or vital interests of our users or the public. For example, if there is an indication of severe self-harm risk or threat of harm to others, we may alert law enforcement or other authorities.
• With Parental Consent: If a parent or guardian gives consent, we can share a child’s data with specified third parties or educational institutions at their request.

We do not otherwise share children’s personal data except as permitted by COPPA and relevant laws.

5. Parental Rights & Control (COPPA / GDPR)

Parents or guardians of children under the age of consent (13 in the U.S., 16 in some EU countries) have the right to:

We use AI-driven personalization to recommend lessons, quizzes, or flashcards tailored to each user’s progress. This involves analyzing performance data (e.g., correct answers, time spent) to suggest next steps. If you prefer not to have your (or your child’s) data used in this way, you can:

Please note that if you opt out, you or your child can still use EliteElise, but the content may not adapt to the user’s individual learning level.

7. Data Security & Retention

We employ encryption and other security measures to help protect the personal information we process. We retain personal data only as long as needed to provide our services, or as required by law. After that, we securely delete or anonymize it.

We will not condition a child’s participation in EliteElise on disclosing more personal data than is reasonably necessary. If you have questions about our security practices, feel free to contact us.

8. International Data & Rights

We welcome users globally. If you are in the EU/UK, we comply with GDPR (or UK GDPR). This means:

• Legal Bases: We rely on your (or your parent’s) consent for optional features like personalization, and on our legitimate interests or contractual necessity for core functionality.
• Your GDPR Rights: You can request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of your data at any time. You also have the right to object to certain processing, or to request data portability.
• Age of Consent: If local law sets a higher age (e.g., 16), we require parental consent for under that age.

If you are in China, we follow PIPL for child users under 14 by requiring guardian consent. We may request additional permissions if we need to transfer data out of China.
